The Tiny Feets

Manolo says, the Manolo he has recieved a question from one of the Manolo's many internet friends.
I am 35 years old, a petite and cute redhead, but oh woe is me, I have size 1 or 2 feet!!!  Manolo, it is a nightmare. I walk past the fancy "adult" shoe stores, and I want to weep as I will NEVER EVER be able to fit into those shoes. Instead I have to face the humiliation of shopping in kiddie stores amongst screaming brats. Even 12 year olds here have bigger feet than me. Thank God these days kiddie shoes are more sophisticated than they used to be, but still, I long for fashionable, strappy high heel shoes that are gorgeous.
Manolo says, on the one of the hands, many women the Manolo knows they would sell their grannies to the white slavers have the too small feets.

Yet on the other of the hands, it is indeed the serious problem, not to be able to wear the super fantastic adult lady shoes.

Manolo says in the situation of the too gigantic, or too teeny feets it is the best to have the shoes custom made. Yes, this it is very expensive, too expensive for the most of the peoples, but it is the best.

But if you do not have the moneys, you will have to resort to the Cinderella of the Boston, or the Dainty Feet, the companies that specializes in the teeny size shoes.

The Manolo he must now ask his many internet friends if they have the better solution for the lady with tiny feets.

Thank you Manolo, you are indeed the shoe messiah. Maybe I'll splurge on the custom made shoes sometime - but how do I find these magic shoemakers?

As a fellow petite lady (4'6", size 1 shoe) who also suffers the unrequited love for the shoes, I feel your pain. Sadly, there are only a few companies that cater to us, and of those, most of their shoes are unfashionable at best and ugly at worst. I won't name names, but I think most of their tiny shoes are designed for 90 year-old nuns.

Try your phone book first and see if there are any shoemakers in your area: there are still a few who practice this ancient art. If all else fails, I have a directory of links to online businesses that make custom shoes. I'd post it here, but have no wish to anger the Manolo.

And by all means, complain to the companies that make the shoes you love. It hasn't gotten me anywhere yet, but maybe if enough tiny women complain...

Thank you, thank you for the information! I am a teeny woman (though not as teeny as some) of 4'11" stature and size 5 feet. The frustration and sadness of asking shoe store owners what their smallest size is and hearing time and time again, "It is a 6," remains unmatched by anything else in the world.

Muchos besos,
Betsy

My directory of online custom shoemakers is at Customize Your Life: Shoes and, though they aren't custom-made, here's my list of small shoe stores.

Hope this helps everyone find some super fantastic shoes!
