I am currently searching for the shoes to wear with the jeans. I already have the super fantastic calf-high boots (including the Fryes), but the shoes, they are hard to find. I am a bit of the tough chic, so they must not be, how you say, too girly. I want the shoes of the substance with the sophisticated silhouette (the ankle boots, they are okay, if you can recommend any). Also, they must have the bit of the heel, as I cannot walk in the flat shoes or the wedge soles.

Manolo says, there are many shoes that the Manolo would reccomend for the wearing with the jeans, however, if you are looking for the "tough chic" shoes of the quality, the Manolo he would recommend the shoes of the Donald J. Pliner.

Frequently, too many of the peoples, when they talk of the tough girl, they think of the clunky shoes, but this one above, it is chic, it is tough, but it is also most stylish. It even has the matching handbag.

GQ: You know that show Sex and the City?

MP: Embarrassing! I was thinking New York is like that. I have the impression that the people are like that--the women, the bitchiness.

GQ: The thing is, too many women see that show and they think that's how their life should be. Rather than create their life, they imitate a stupid show. And that's the worst thing you can do. Right?

MP: Oh no, it's terrible. Also the way of total and sure unhappiness. It's what I say all the time to my girls in the office here: The more they dress for sex, the less they will have love or sex. These girls throw away so much energy in this search for beauty and sexiness. I think that the old rules were much more clever and better than the rules now. The trouble is, most people are not so generous. Everybody wants love for themselves. I hear this all the time from the women I work with. I hear them say, "I want, I want." I never hear them saying what they want to give.

GQ: Do you tell them that?

MP: Yes, of course. They don't listen. With women, the more unhappy they are, the more undressed they are. This is true. Dignity's another very important part of this. Sex and the City is the opposite of dignity. You have to have dignity for your body--this is with men and women. You need to have dignity towards how you are, how you dress, how you behave. Very important. Men are always much more dignified than most women.

GQ: Why?

MP: Because women have the stress of being beautiful, of age and youth. Men don't have all that. And with women, that stress causes a lot of mistakes and bad choices--a lot of not being their true self. You know, the older I get, the more I prefer to talk to old people. Old people or kids.

Manolo says, yes, the interviewer he is not the brightest of the bulbs, but he has nonetheless managed to elicit important responses from the Miuccia about the role of the tradition, respect and dignity.

It is no secret that the Manolo he is the lover of tradition, and the believer in the dignity of the individual, and in the proper respect for the self and others. This is one of the reasons why he is such the fan of the Miuccia, because she knows that the fashion it is truly secondary to these most important of things.

(By the way, the Manolo he disagrees with the Miuccia about the men having more dignity than the women. There are many of the mens who are completely without la dignidad. It is however true that the pressures on the women they are corrosive.)

GQ: [...] So what is the point of fashion? The average GUY pictures a few strange people sitting around indulging their bizarre whims, and I'm not sure you disagree.

MP: Clothes can be important. I am learning this. For instance, often when I design and I wonder what is the point, I think of someone having a bad time in their life. Maybe they are sad, and they wake up and they put on something that I've made, and it makes them feel just a bit better. So in that sense, fashion is a little help in the life of a person. But very little. After all, if you have a serious drama, who cares about the clothes?

GQ: I believe in uniforms—finding a look you like and sticking to it.

MP: I love uniforms because they allow you to hide. No one knows what you are thinking, so it's a very appropriate and correct way to be yourself.

Manolo says, this is one of the points the Manolo he was trying to make at the Manolo for the Men with regard to the ridiculous men's clothes of the Vivienne Westwood.

Too often, one sees the person who devotes enormous amounts of the psychic energy to maintaining the outwardly bizarre appearance. Ultimately, this is most often energy wasted, energy that should have been properly devoted to maintaining the inwardly unique or revolutionary way of seeing the world.

We wish to dress well and fashionably for many reasons, for the pleasure of having beautiful objects, for the pleasure of eliciting the envy or desire of others, for the pleasure of the feelings of self-confidence, but most importantly, we should wish to dress well because the clothes they allow others to give us respect.

The Manolo he does not wish to go all Foucault on you, but by this "give us respect" the Manolo he means that the clothes they are the signifiers of position and power.

The fact it is that others they judge us by our clothes. It is not fair, but it is nonetheless completely the way of the world. Thus we should dress well because the good clothes they earn respect and admiration that is not necessarily deserved, but is nonetheless useful.

Of the course, ultimately the clothes they are irrelevant to whether or not that initial respect and admiration they are maintained. True character, as the Miuccia rightly knows, eventually emerges.

I, like everyone and her sister, am looking for a pair of wedge sandals to wear this spring and summer that won't make my delicate little feet look like the Queen Mary I & II. I don't much go for espadrilles; they get so ratty and stinky after the first rainfall. But I do really, really like wedges with cork heels. And I'd be especially excited if you knew of any done up in metallic or beige leather, and positively orgasmic if they also had an ankle strap. Oh, and since these shoes are so trendy, I'd like to stay under $100. Yes, I'm also a picky eater.

I am very curious about what the manolo thinks of the camper shoes for a casual, urban-y shoe. of my friends, most would not wear, but i believe the twin line is supercute and comfty for hanging out daily. Which do you think are the most superfantastic or is the entire line too weird for the wear?

Manolo says, Manolo cannot help it, but the shoes of the Camper always make the Manolo think of the Larry David. But unlike the Larry David, the Manolo, he thinks that the Campers they are not all that.

The trouble with the shoes of the Camper is that they were the very trendy shoes for whom the moment it has passed.

In the opinion of the Manolo, the better choice, but in the vein of the similarness, are the shoes of the John Fluevog, although Manolo suspects that the same thing--the style which will not outlive the moment of the trend--will happen to the Fluevog in the time of three or four of the years.

The exceptions to this, they are the shoes of the Camper and the Fluevog which are modeled on shoes of the past.

The Awards of the Academy

Manolo says, last night the most super fantastic stars of the Hollywood appeared in public for the handing out of the Oscars.

In the general the Manolo he was pleased to see that the stars they dressed in a glamourous fashion befitting their station (Unlike, say, at the Awards of the Spirit of the Independents, whose participants they were dressed so barista bohemian casual that the Manolo found himself wanting to ask many of them to fetch him the low fat/skim mocha double cappuccino, and make it quick, the Manolo he is the busy man.)

Overall, however, last night there were alomst none of the grotesqueries of the fashion that have in the past caused the Manolo to do the spit take.

Still there were the few of the stars whose "get-ups" require the closer scruitny.

Manolo says, yes, the dress it was awful, but the Manolo he does not want to make fun of the poor Melanie, as not only is she wearing the cast on the leg, but it is plain to the Manolo that the Melanie she is peddling as fast as she can to hang onto that super fantastic man of hers.

There was fashion, too, of course. Last night, as well as during the entire season, we got to see exactly how complicated the business and the art of clothes designing truly is. The show was both a confirmation of our worst prejudices about models and design divas, and a revelation of just how much imagination and skill must go into building and showing the most original fashion lines.

The Wendy. Eehh. Yes, she was nasty, and yes, she was partially redeemed this week. But ultimately, who really cares? She is, as the Micheal Kors says, the very talented tailor. And that is the extent of her abilities as the designer.

The Kara Saun. By the end of the next to last of the episodes, the Kara Saun she had begun to annoy the Manolo. This trend it reached the apogee tonight, and the Manolo he began to actively dislike the Kara Saun. But worse than her irritating qualities, however, was that the stated inspiration for her clothes--the movie the Aviator--it was trite, and more than a little silly. Of the course, this justification it was no accident. The Kara Saun she is the Hollywood costume designer, and so she has designed a collection of costumey clothes for the movie that has already been made.

You and I both see eye to eye when it comes to the horror that is The Uggs. However, living in the Boston area, and having just suffered through a major blizzard, I wondered...what's a stylish girl to do about winter boots? I have dressy leather boots for going out in the winter, but those are not appropriate for the shoveling...

Is it just a situation where I have to wear the ugly, but warm and dry "boots of the duck" whilst I shovel away, and just change out of them as soon as I can? Or are there anymore stylish options out there that I am missing? Hiking boots don't really work in 3 feet of snow...

Here is the second question.

My question for you is this: I know that the Ugg boots are not super fantastic, yet, they are shoes of such warmth for me in my cold Canadian climate. On a cold day, putting my feet into a pair of Uggs makes me feel super fantastic, yet, I know that I look ridiculous, as I am not a 12 year old Asian girl (who, as you have said, are the only people by whom the Uggs should be worn). Manolo says, here is the picture of the Vera Wang. As you can see she dresses as so many of the designers of the fashion they do, in the costume of the nearly all black.

The Manolo he does not approve of this.

To the Manolo the designer she is saying that her clothes they they are not capable of the wearing by the people of the everydayness, or if one is not the super model thin.

In the fact, the Vera Wang she designs the beautiful garments, and the Vera herself she is the cutie. So why must she adopt this atrocious downtown style, with the hideous leggings, no of the less?

Yes, this outfit it is functional, and no of the doubt comfortable, but it is not flattering to the Vera.

Here again, we must take as our muse the Miuccia, who is not afraid to wear her own creations to the shows of the fashion.

Manolo says, if like the Manolo you are obsessed with the Project Runway, than perhaps you would like to visit the links of the websites of the three finalists, the Jay, the Wendy, and the Kara Saun.

Manolo his favorite contestant it is the Jay, who makes the Manolo laugh with his sassy/bitchy wit, and whose dresses, although not always to the Manolo's liking, are both original and thoughtful.

As for the Kara, the Manolo he loves her work, she is the true professional, and except for the crazy pants for the Grammy, her designs they are always good. (Although, the Manolo he will admit that it was the pleasure of the guilty to watch the chaotic evil Wendy get under the skin of the Kara Saun in the latest of the episodes.)

Wendy, Wendy, Wendy. What is there to say, but that she has some talent, but that her conniving/needy/tough/weepy personality it has the Manolo wondering if the therapy of the hormone replacement, it is not needed. Trust the Manolo, you would not want to work in the same office as this woman.

And then there was the Austin. The Manolo he loves the Austin. He is the beautiful, scrawny, flaming creature, who wears the costume of the Post Office better than any of the not-so-super models. Has not anyone but than the Manolo noticed the striking resemblence (certainly intentional) between the Austin and the young Yves Saint Laurent?

However, as the designer, the Austin, he the pony of the one trick. Yes it is the very good trick, but he keeps doing it again and again, even when it is not the right trick for the moment. And, the worse, the one time he does not do the trick, during the challange of the wedding dresses, it is the debacle so bad that the producers they must step in to save him from the elimination.

Manolo says, this show of the television, it is the addicitve pleasure, one that the Manolo he will miss when it ends.

Manolo says, one of the Manolo's many internet friends has asked the Manolo the question.

After decades standing on her feet for hours on end at a retail job, my mother's feet are a disaster. She cannot find any nice shoes that don't pinch or hurt her poor abused feet after an hour of wear. Can you please recommend any particular brands or low-heeled styles that would be age-appropriate (50s) and extremely comfortable?

Manolo says, this question it is easily answered with the three words: the Taryn Rose.

The shoes of the Taryn Rose, they were desinged by the lady doctor, the orthopedic surgeon, who like the mother of the Manolo's friend had the feet of soreness from the prolonged standing. So they are made with the comfort of the foot in the mind.

In the general these shoes they are very conservative in the style, but a few, like this one, the Manolo likes very much,(although the heels, they are perhaps to high for the wearing by the mother).

If the Manolo, he were to recommend the low-heeled shoe from the Taryn Rose, he would suggest the something like this one.
